Returns Policy
Vintage
Unfortunately due to the nature of our vintage clothing being in second hand condition we are unable to offer refunds or exchanges for change of mind. All purchases are made with the understanding that the goods are in second hand, recycled, preloved and/or deadstock condition and therefore, not brand new. Where possible, any flaws will be noted within the description and images of the flaw provided.
We thoroughly inspect all items before sale however we do understand that things can be missed. If you feel that your item has flaws/faults outside of acceptable vintage wear & tear, please get in touch within 2 days of receiving your product. We want you to be happy with your purchases and will do our best to remedy any concerns.
Originals
We are more than happy to arrange an exchange or store credit for any of our Neighbourhood Original pieces. To be eligible for an exchange items must be returned in unworn condition with all original tags attached and in it's original packaging.
To initiate the exchange process please email us within 7 days of receiving your order.
Sizing
Please check the measurements provided closely before purchasing. If you’re not sure how to measure yourself, you can choose a similar garment from your wardrobe to compare.
For our vintage products we provide an estimated Australian size based on the measurements. Often the estimated size we provide is different from the size marked on the label. This is due to different countries, eras, and brands using different sizing methods. The size we have chosen as our estimate is the one that we feel best reflects current Australian sizing.
If you have any questions in regards to sizing, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Neighbourhood Vintage
All our vintage pieces are hand picked and sourced from both local and overseas suppliers. All garments are washed with care and inspected for any flaws. Repairs are made in our Perth studio if needed.
We get creative with any items not suitable for sale and upcycle/rework them into something new. By turning a vintage item into a new garment, we can extend the life of the clothing and reduce waste going to landfill.
Neighbourhood Originals
Neighbourhood Originals are inspired by our favourite vintage finds from the 90s and early 2000s.
We only produce our garments in very limited quantities to reduce excessive waste. All garments are manufactured with a small, independently owned factory in Denpasar.
Where possible we work with vintage, deadstock and recycled materials. For more information on the fabrics we work with please visit the individual product page
Garment Care
We want you to be able to enjoy your vintage garments for as long as possible. We've put together some tips to help extend the life of your clothing & further reduce it's environmental impact.
Washing
- We recommend washing with cold water (under 30°) where possible as hot water can shrink, fade and distort some fabrics.
- If your garment is only lightly worn, consider spot cleaning to get in another wear before washing.
- When washing polyester fabrics, consider using a microfiber filter or bag such as Guppy Friend to help catch any microplastics released during the wash cycle.
- Look for biodegradable or phosphate free laundry detergents.
Drying
- We recommend line drying your clothes where possible. Not only does this save energy on tumble drying but it can also be kinder to your clothing by causing less wear and tear. Line dry in the shade to avoid any fading caused by sun exposure.
Dry Cleaning
- For clothing that requires dry cleaning, we suggest finding an eco friendly dry cleaner that doesn't use perchloroethylene (also called ‘perc’). Look for businesses offering services with liquid carbon dioxide or wet cleaning.
